#6 - The Great Train Hike











This hike starts off from Independence Square in the capital city Bridgetown and takes the route traveled by The Barbados railway, which was active from 1881 to 1937, transporting sugar cane, goods and passengers from the capital city, through the countryside to the northern parish of St. Andrew it is done in memory of the late Colin Hudson British-born Barbadian environmentalist and innovative scientist acknowledged internationally as a key developer of the modern sugar cane harvester .. pieces of steel remnants from the train line.....from 1883... can still be seen along section of the route as well as foundation piers
