Hike # 18 Barclays Park

It was a hot, hazy day as we left the rugged East Coastline and proceeded up and up into the hills of St. Andrew as the sleeping Giant rested (the shape of the rocks in the hills have the appearance of a giant lying on his back) meanwhile trying as much to take in the natural beauty of the landscape, sea and sand, rocks and hill and the natural vegetation.. and even at time sampling some of the "fat pork" (Chrysobalanus icaco) the fruit of a shrub that grows in these hills. We also passed through the Chaulky Mount district an area famous for it potteries and crafts....stopped to look at the remmants of a manjack (a black coal like substance) mine...we also learnt that arrowroot grew well in that area..Then it was on through Cambridge and a down hill return to the starting point.
Hike distance 4.75 miles

Total for year 135.5 miles
